Description
Gunung Mesehe (1,344 m) is one of the higher peaks in the western mountain range of Bali, straddling the border of Jembrana and Buleleng regencies. According to the PeakVisor database it ranks as the 25th highest of 365 peaks in Bali, with a prominence of about 474 m; its nearest higher neighbour is Gunung Patas (1,347 m) some 4.9 km to the east. Gunung Mesehe is rarely used as a climbing objective and has almost no formal trail, so its name is better known through the Yeh Mesehe waterfall (Yeh means 'water' in Balinese) that rises in the forested slopes of the same area. That waterfall — administratively in Pohsanten village, Mendoyo district, Jembrana — is often described as the tallest in Bali, estimated at around 100 m and by some accounts more than 150 m, and is considered largely untouched because it is reached only by a footpath along cliffs and ravines, roughly a six-hour walk. The area lies within the West Bali (KPH Bali Barat) forest management zone.
