Description

The Jebel Toubkal Circuit is a multi-day trek to the highest summit in North Africa, rising 4,167 m above sea level in the heart of Morocco's High Atlas mountains, roughly 63 km south of Marrakech. The classic route begins from the Berber village of Imlil (1,740 m), ascends past Sidi Chamharouch — a streamside Muslim pilgrimage site — to the Refuge du Toubkal (3,207 m) for the first night, then tackles the steep rocky summit push the next morning. The extended circuit takes in the remote Lac d'Ifni (2,314 m) and several Amazigh Berber villages, weaving cultural immersion into the mountain scenery. The trek can be completed in three days for a summit-and-return, or four to five days for the full circuit.

Trail Highlights

The summit of Jebel Toubkal (4,167 m) — the highest peak in North Africa and the entire Arab world; the Berber villages of Imlil and Aremd; Lac d'Ifni (a remote glacial lake at 2,314 m); Refuge du Toubkal (3,207 m); and panoramas of the Sahara desert and snow-capped peaks from the summit on a clear day.
