Description

The Torres del Paine O Circuit — known as the Circuito O or Circuito Grande — is a full loop of roughly 130 km around the entire Paine Massif in Chilean Patagonia, usually completed in 7–9 days. The route essentially incorporates the famous W trek and then adds a remote back section of about 50 km that circles the quiet northern side of the range before returning to the start. Its highest point and hardest day is the crossing of John Gardner Pass at around 1,200 m, which opens onto sweeping views of Grey Glacier and the vast Southern Patagonian Ice Field. Along the way hikers pass through the French Valley (Valle del Francés), turquoise lakes and lenga forest, finishing with the iconic panorama of the three granite towers of Torres del Paine. Since October 2016 all campsites and refugios must be booked in advance, and the circuit may only be walked anti-clockwise for safety on John Gardner Pass.
