Description
The Tahoe Rim Trail is a roughly 274 km (170-mile) loop encircling the Lake Tahoe Basin in the Sierra Nevada, straddling the California–Nevada border. Completed in 2001 after volunteers began building it in 1981, the trail delivers sweeping views of Lake Tahoe's deep blue water from nearly every angle, along with conifer forest and alpine meadows. It passes through three wilderness areas — Desolation, Mount Rose, and Granite Chief — and shares about 80 km of tread with the Pacific Crest Trail. With relatively gentle grades and easy resupply logistics, the TRT is often regarded as an ideal introductory thru-hike, though its consistently high elevation (mostly above 2,000 m, topping out at Relay Peak, 3,151 m) demands acclimatization and careful water planning.
Trail Highlights
Loop mengelilingi Danau Tahoe dengan panorama danau biru dari segala arah, melintasi tiga kawasan wilderness (Desolation, Mount Rose, Granite Chief), berbagi sekitar 80 km jalur dengan Pacific Crest Trail, dan mencapai titik tertinggi di Relay Peak (3.151 m).
