Description
The South West Coast Path is England's longest National Trail, running about 1,014 km (630 miles) around the entire south-west peninsula from Minehead in Somerset to South Haven Point near Poole Harbour in Dorset, passing through Devon and Cornwall. It grew out of the route coastguards once walked to watch for smugglers, hugging every bay and headland — which is why its cumulative ascent reaches roughly 35,000 m, nearly four times the height of Everest. Its highest point is only 318 m at Great Hangman near Combe Martin, yet the relentless cliff-top climbs make it strenuous despite requiring no technical skill. Along the way walkers cross the Jurassic Coast, the western tip of Land's End, the Lizard Peninsula, and Cornwall's historic mining landscape — two of them UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Most people complete it section by section over several years, though some walk the whole thing in 7–8 weeks.
Trail Highlights
Menyusuri seluruh garis pantai barat daya Inggris dari Minehead hingga Poole Harbour, melewati Great Hangman (titik tertinggi), Land's End, Semenanjung Lizard, dua Situs Warisan Dunia UNESCO (Jurassic Coast dan lanskap pertambangan Cornwall & West Devon), serta tebing, teluk, dan desa nelayan tak berkesudahan.
