Description

The Mardi Himal Trek is a short teahouse trek on the south-eastern flank of Machhapuchhre inside Nepal's Annapurna Conservation Area, officially opened as a trekking route only in 2012 and now one of the country's most popular short treks. From Pokhara, hikers take a short drive to Kande and then follow a forested ridge through Deurali, Forest Camp, Low Camp, and High Camp before reaching the Mardi Himal viewpoint and Base Camp at around 4,500 m. Much of the route runs along a single narrow ridgeline that opens onto dramatic close-up views of the walls of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and the sacred Fishtail (Machhapuchhre) summit. The trek is typically completed in 4–7 days, rated moderate and well-suited to reasonably fit beginners, with simple teahouse lodging along the way. Being newer and far quieter than the Annapurna Base Camp or Circuit routes, Mardi Himal offers a much more peaceful Himalayan experience while still delivering big high-altitude panoramas.
