Description
The Langtang Valley Trek is Nepal's third most popular trekking route, located in Langtang National Park adjacent to the Tibetan border. Starting from Syabrubesi (1,503 m), the trail ascends through dense rhododendron forests, traditional Tamang villages, and high yak pastures to reach Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m) — a serene Tibetan Buddhist settlement dominated by Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), revered locally as the valley's protective deity. A popular side trip to Tserko Ri (4,984 m) offers sweeping 360-degree views across the Langtang massif. The route is graded moderate, making it an ideal first Himalayan trek for those seeking authentic culture and dramatic mountain scenery without technical climbing. The region was largely destroyed in the 2015 Nepal earthquake but has since been fully rebuilt and welcomes trekkers again.
