Description
The Jordan Trail is a ~675 km long-distance walking route tracing the full length of Jordan from Umm Qais in the northern highlands to Aqaba on the Red Sea, completed in 35–40 days across 33 stages. The route encompasses the country's full landscape spectrum: forested northern hills, dramatic rift valley escarpments, the four-ecosystem Dana Biosphere Reserve, the ancient Nabatean rock city of Petra, and the UNESCO-listed sandstone desert of Wadi Rum. Hikers can tackle the complete trail or cherry-pick sections — the 80 km Dana-to-Petra segment is widely regarded as the trail's most spectacular stretch. The trail passes through 52 towns and villages, offering rare access to Bedouin and rural Jordanian communities.
Trail Highlights
The ancient Nabatean stone city of Petra carved from rock cliffs, the dramatic red desert of Wadi Rum (the Valley of the Moon — UNESCO), the Dana Biosphere Reserve with canyons and endemic wildlife, 52 historic villages and towns along the route, and the Red Sea coast at Aqaba
