Description
The GR20 is a ~180 km mountain traverse across the island of Corsica (France) from Calenzana in the north to Conca in the south, widely regarded as one of Europe's most demanding long-distance trails. Sharp rocky terrain, steep ascents, and roughly 12,000 m of cumulative elevation gain make it suitable only for experienced hikers in strong condition. The route is typically completed in 12–16 days across 15–16 stages, with nights in solar-powered mountain refuges or official campsites. The best window is June to September, when the trail is snow-free and all refuges are staffed.
Trail Highlights
A dramatic granite trail across the mountains of Corsica from Calenzana (north) to Conca (south), passing high cols, glacial lakes, endemic pine forests, and Mediterranean panoramas from both sides of the island.
