Description

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of the world's most popular teahouse treks and the easiest gateway into Nepal's Annapurna range. This short loop, usually completed in 3–5 days from Pokhara, begins at Nayapul or Ulleri and climbs long stone staircases to the ridge village of Ghorepani (2,840 m). Its highlight is a pre-dawn walk to the Poon Hill viewpoint (3,210 m) to watch sunrise light up the giant walls of Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) and Annapurna I (8,091 m), with Machapuchare, Nilgiri and Annapurna South also in view. The trail winds through rhododendron forests that bloom brilliantly in spring and passes authentic Gurung and Magar villages such as Ghandruk, combining world-class Himalayan scenery with rich cultural immersion and no serious altitude acclimatisation required.

Trail Highlights
