Description
The E5 Alpine Crossing is a popular traverse of the Alps from Oberstdorf in Germany to Merano in Italy via Austria. This section is part of the much longer European E5 path; hikers commonly complete the crossing in about six to eight days, staying in mountain huts or guesthouses. The route passes through the Allgäu, Lechtal, and Ötztal regions and includes high crossings such as the Pitztaler Jöchl, so snow conditions, weather, and confidence on alpine terrain matter.
