Description
The Dusky Track connects Lake Hauroko and Lake Manapouri through the remote interior of Fiordland on New Zealand’s South Island. The roughly 84 km trek is commonly planned over eight to ten days, with an optional visit to Supper Cove requiring allowance in the itinerary. Wet forest, river valleys and alpine terrain make for varied travel, while mud, fallen trees and flooding can delay progress. Boat access needs advance arrangements, and DOC recommends experienced groups carry emergency communications and allow spare food and time.
