Description
The Continental Divide Trail (CDT) is a roughly 4,873 km long-distance hiking route that follows the spine of North America's Continental Divide, running from the Crazy Cook Monument on the Mexican border in New Mexico to Waterton Lakes National Park on the Canadian border, crossing five states: New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. Together with the Appalachian Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail it forms the 'Triple Crown' of American long-distance hiking, but it is known as the wildest, most remote and least finished of the three. Its highest point is Grays Peak in Colorado (4,352 m), and a full thru-hike typically takes about five months. The Colorado section is rated the most difficult, while Wyoming's Wind River Range is often named hikers' favourite stretch.
