Description
The Camino Portugués is a pilgrimage route to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain, and is now the second most popular Camino after the French Way. From Porto, the inland Central Route covers roughly 240 km over 10–14 days, tracing old Roman roads, medieval bridges, and historic towns such as Barcelos, Ponte de Lima, Valença, and Tui before crossing into Galicia. The terrain is gentler than the French Way thanks to modest elevation changes, though long stretches of cobblestone are hard on the feet. The best window runs March to October; pilgrims carry a credencial and must walk at least the final 100 km to earn the Compostela certificate.
