Chinese double-amputee who summited Everest in 2018 at age 69.
Xia Boyu (born 1949) is a Chinese mountaineer who lost his feet after giving his sleeping bag to a teammate during a storm on his first Everest attempt in 1975; his lower legs were later amputated in 1996 due to lymphoma. After several failed attempts he reached the Everest summit on 14 May 2018 as the second double amputee to do so, and won the 2019 Laureus Sporting Moment of the Year.
