Speed-record breaker in the Alps and Himalaya; soloed the south face of Annapurna in 28 hours without ropes (2013). Nicknamed the 'Swiss Machine'.

Swiss mountaineer nicknamed 'The Swiss Machine', renowned for his extraordinary speed records on the Eiger, Matterhorn, and Annapurna. In 2013 he soloed the south face of Annapurna (8,091 m) in 28 hours 7 minutes without a rope. He died near Everest in April 2017.
