Indonesian student activist and climber, a member of Mapala UI; died on Mount Semeru (1969) — his story was immortalized in the film 'Gie' (2005).

Chinese-Indonesian student activist and mountaineer (1942–1969), member of Mapala UI at the University of Indonesia. Author of the famous diary 'Catatan Seorang Demonstran', he died from toxic volcanic gas on Mount Semeru. His life was adapted into the 2005 film 'Gie'.
