Rolando Garibotti is an Argentinian-American climber, writer and mountain guide from Bariloche who now splits his time between El Chaltén and the Dolomites. With Colin Haley he made the first ascent of the Torre Traverse on 21–24 January 2008, linking Aguja Standhardt, Punta Herron, Torre Egger and Cerro Torre over roughly 2,200 m of vertical gain. He also established El Arca de los vientos on Cerro Torre (2005), wrote a landmark American Alpine Journal analysis of Cerro Torre's disputed first ascent, and has organised trail restoration work in Los Glaciares National Park.
