Pasang Lhamu Sherpa (10 December 1961 – 22 April 1993) was a Nepali mountaineer who became the first Nepali woman to summit Mount Everest on 22 April 1993 via the South Col route. After three failed attempts (1990, 1991, 1992), she finally reached the summit with five Sherpas, but died during the descent in a severe snowstorm. She was posthumously awarded the Nepal Star by the King of Nepal and declared a national hero. Her life is documented in the 2022 film Pasang: In the Shadow of Everest.
