Gelje Sherpa is a Nepali mountain guide who gained international recognition after rescuing a dying Malaysian climber from Everest's death zone in May 2023—abandoning his own client's summit bid and carrying the victim about 600 metres down over six hours. He is also an experienced 8000m climber and part of the first winter K2 ascent team (2021).
