Carlos Soria Fontán (born in Ávila, Spain, 5 February 1939) is a Spanish mountaineer pursuing the record as the oldest person to complete all fourteen 8,000-metre peaks. He is the only climber to have ascended ten mountains above 8,000 metres after turning 60, and is the oldest person in history to have summited K2 (aged 65), Broad Peak (68), Makalu (69), Gasherbrum I (70), Kanchenjunga (75), Annapurna (77) and Manaslu (86). He has become a symbol of cross-generational perseverance in Himalayan mountaineering.
