The first amputee woman in the world to reach the summit of Everest (2013) and to complete the Seven Summits; recipient of the Padma Shri in 2015.

Arunima Sinha (born in Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, India) is an Indian mountaineer and former national volleyball player. After losing her left leg below the knee when she was thrown from a moving train in April 2011, she resolved to climb Everest while still in treatment. On 21 May 2013 she became the world's first female amputee to summit Everest, and on 1 January 2019 she completed the Seven Summits with Mount Vinson in Antarctica. She received the Padma Shri (2015) and founded a free sports academy for people with disabilities.
