German climber known as the first person to redpoint a 9a+ (5.15a) route, Open Air in 1996.
Alexander Huber (born 30 December 1968) is a German rock climber regarded as one of the most influential in the sport's history. He emerged as the world's strongest sport climber in the early 1990s after Wolfgang Güllich's death: in 1992 he became the second person to redpoint a 9a route with Om, and his 1996 ascent of Open Air is recognised as the first-ever 9a+ redpoint. With his brother Thomas — the pair known as the "Huberbuam" — he is also known for big-wall climbing and speed records on El Capitan.
