Description
Yangra, better known as Ganesh I, is the highest peak (7,422 m) of the Ganesh Himal — a cluster of snow peaks standing about 70 km northwest of Kathmandu that forms a natural rampart along Nepal's border with Tibet, just west of the Langtang Valley. The range is named after the deity Ganesha, and its tusked, elephant-head silhouette is recognisable from afar. Besides Ganesh I, the range includes Ganesh II, Salasungo (Ganesh III), and Pabil (Ganesh IV). As a 7,000 m expedition peak, Yangra is rarely climbed and demands high-level alpine skills against avalanche, crevasse, and severe weather. For most visitors, however, the appeal of the Ganesh Himal lies in its still-pristine base-camp and 'Ruby Valley' trek: a remote trail through rhododendron forest, waterfalls, hot springs, sacred lakes, and the legendary ruby-mining country, crossing high passes such as Pangsang La and Sing La. The region is home to Tamang, Gurung, and Magar communities, offering an authentic cultural experience far from the crowds of the Annapurna and Everest trails.

Routes
Ekspedisi Puncak Yangra (Ganesh I, 7.422 m) via Base Camp Yangra Kangri
Sangat sulit / teknis tinggi (pendakian gletser 7.000-an m dengan risiko longsoran, celah es, dan cuaca ekstrem; hanya untuk pendaki alpine berpengalaman)The expedition route to the summit of Yangra (Ganesh I), the range's highest point at 7,422 m. After a long approach through remote country to the Yangra Kangri base camp, the team sets up a series of high camps on glacier and snow ridges with gradual acclimatisation. The climb faces avalanche, glacier crevasse, and high-altitude storms, demanding advanced alpine skills, fixed ropes, and full logistical support. Yangra is very rarely climbed and requires an official summit permit from the Nepalese authorities and a registered guide. This route is presented as an overview of the expedition, not a self-guided climbing manual.
SourceTrek Base Camp Ganesh Himal / Ruby Valley (via Pangsang La & Sing La)
Berat namun non-teknis (trekking terpencil dengan pass tinggi, sebagian besar berupa camping; fasilitas sangat terbatas)The main trekking route to approach the Ganesh Himal range and its base camp. From Trishuli Bazaar/Syabru Bhanjyang, the trail passes through rhododendron forest and Tamang villages and crosses the high Pangsang La and Sing La passes before reaching the base-camp area at the foot of the Ganesh Himal. Along the way are waterfalls, hot springs, sacred lakes, and the legendary ruby-mining country. Because the region is still very quiet, most stages require camping and self-contained logistics; a local guide is strongly recommended. The trek offers views of Ganesh I (Yangra, 7,422 m) through Ganesh IV (Pabil) and an authentic cultural experience far from the Annapurna and Everest trails.
SourceClimbing Experiences
The Ganesh Himal range, crowned by Yangra (Ganesh I, 7,422 m), is one of Nepal's most remote and quiet trekking regions, west of the Langtang Valley. The summit itself is rarely climbed and demands a technical expedition, but the base-camp / Ruby Valley trek through forest, high passes, and Tamang villages offers an authentic cultural experience. The videos and guides below capture the Ganesh Himal trek, views of the range, and expedition information for the Yangra summit.
