Description
The Wuyi Mountains (武夷山, Wǔyíshān; highest Mount Huanggang ~2,158 m on the Fujian–Jiangxi border) are a mountain range in northern Fujian, southeastern China, and one of UNESCO's 'mixed' World Heritage Sites (recognised for both natural and cultural value). The area is famed for its Danxia landform — red-sandstone cliffs and towers rising above green river valleys. Its main icons are the Nine-Bend River (九曲溪), where visitors drift on traditional bamboo rafts through the river's nine bends between red cliffs, and Tianyou Peak (天游峰), reached by a 'Heavenly Ladder' of hundreds of stone steps. Wuyi is also the birthplace of China's most celebrated rock teas (yancha) — Dahongpao ('Big Red Robe') and lapsang souchong — grown in cliff crevices. Beyond its scenery, the area holds archaeological sites, temples, and the ruins of ancient Neo-Confucian academies, and serves as a refugium for many rare and endemic plant species.

Routes
Jejak Teh Cadas: Dahongpao → Gua Tirai Air (大红袍 → 水帘洞)
Mudah (★☆☆☆☆) — hampir seluruhnya datar dan mudah dilaluiThe 'Rocky Mountain and Fragrant Flowers Trail' — a top choice for beginners, families and seniors, as it is almost entirely flat. It starts from the Da Hong Pao Mother Tree parking lot, passing Liuxiangjian, Huiyuan Temple (where visitors can drink free rock tea, rest and refill water bottles), Yingzui Rock, and finally reaching the Water Curtain Cave. The whole trail is filled with the aroma of tea and accompanied by flowing streams, with refreshing, elegant scenery and plenty of photo opportunities. Beyond a relaxing stroll, it offers an immersive introduction to the cultivation and culture of Wuyi Rock Tea (yancha).

Sedang (★★★☆☆) — 848 anak tangga 'Tangga Langit', sebagian berkemiringan 60°; berpeganganlah pada pagar dan naik perlahanWuyi's most iconic climb — local hikers have a saying that 'a trip to Wuyi is incomplete without climbing Tianyou'. The route starts from the Yunwo entrance and requires climbing the 848 steps of the 'Heavenly Ladder', with some sections at 60° gradients; the source advises holding the handrails and ascending slowly. The halfway viewing platform already opens up panoramic views of the winding Jiuxi River. From the summit of Tianyou Peak, the magnificent Wuyi Danxia landforms interwoven with streams unfold below. The return begins at the Taoyuan Cave Taoist Temple on the back of the mountain, making the itinerary compact yet complete. Starting between 6–7 am is recommended to avoid crowds and improve the chance of catching the spectacular sea of clouds. Note there is no cableway anywhere in the Wuyi area, only shuttle buses between the core parts.

Mudah — tanpa mendaki; duduk di rakit bambuWuyi's signature relaxed experience and, per the source, the most beautiful way to see the area. Rafts depart from the ninth bend and take about 2 hours to float downriver to the first bend. Each raft is fitted with eight chairs, so smaller groups are teamed with other passengers; two raftsmen work the front and back. The raft costs about 130 RMB per person and is NOT included in the park entrance fee — it is paid separately, choosing a departure time when buying admission at the entrance. At the wharf there are a few small restaurants and vendors selling fish food and waterproof shoe sleeves (which the source's author says are not actually needed).
