Description
The Wetterhorn (3,690 m) is a striking peak of the Bernese Alps that towers directly above the village of Grindelwald, Switzerland. Formerly known as the 'Hasle Jungfrau', it is in fact one of three summits on a massif called the 'Wetterhörner' — the highest being the Mittelhorn (3,702 m) and the lowest and most distant the Rosenhorn (3,689 m), both largely hidden from view from Grindelwald. The Wetterhorn summit was first reached on 31 August 1844 by the Grindelwald guides Hans Jaun and Melchior Bannholzer. A September 1854 ascent by a party that included Alfred Wills — who believed he had made the first ascent — was widely celebrated in Britain; his account in 'Wanderings Among the High Alps' (1856) helped make mountaineering fashionable and is often said to have opened the 'golden age of alpinism'. Today the Wetterhorn is a classic alpine tour, usually climbed from Grindelwald via the Gleckstein Hut.

Routes
Rute Normal via Glecksteinhütte (punggung/lereng barat laut)
SourceClimbing Experiences
Wetterhorn experiences almost always centre on the approach from Grindelwald to the Gleckstein Hut, followed by an alpine tour over snow, ice and seracs to the summit that looms above the village. Climbers' videos highlight the peak's signature profile as the 'roof' of Grindelwald, the steep icy ridges and slopes near the top, and the wide panorama over the Bernese Oberland. Some use drone footage or ski-touring angles to show the mountain's shape, while ascent accounts stress the need for stable weather and glacier experience.
