Description
Vaganski vrh (1,757 m) is the highest peak of Velebit — the long Dinaric Alps range running along Croatia's Adriatic coast — and lies within Paklenica National Park. Its summit is a broad, flat grassy ridge that hardly looks like the high point from afar, yet the panorama is superb: the Adriatic and its islands, the Croatian interior, and the jagged Velebit crest. The classic ascent starts from the coastal village of Starigrad-Paklenica through the spectacular Velika Paklenica canyon to the Paklenica mountain hut (about 480 m), then climbs the steep Lipa trail with a narrow scree field before gaining the ridge; the alternative Bukova trail is longer but gentler across karst terrain. The sea-to-summit elevation gain makes it a long, demanding hike, often split over two days with a night at the hut. From the summit edge, a short walk to the seaward rim reveals the vertical cliffs of Velika Paklenica, one of Croatia's famous rock-climbing venues.

Routes
Bukova staza (alternatif lebih panjang & landai)
Menengah — lebih landai dari Lipa staza tetapi lebih panjang; medan karst tajamAn alternative that branches north from the Lipa trail. It is longer but gentler, crossing karst terrain with sharp rock before joining the ridge to Vaganski vrh. It suits those who want to avoid the steep scree field of the Lipa trail, at the cost of a longer day. As with the other routes, an overnight at the Paklenica mountain hut is advisable if starting from the coast, and a national park ticket is still required.
SourceLipa staza dari Starigrad-Paklenica (via ngarai Velika Paklenica & pondok gunung)
Menengah–berat — pendekatan panjang dari laut, ladang scree curam & sempit sebelum punggunganThe classic 'sea-to-summit' route. From the coastal village of Starigrad-Paklenica, the trail passes through the spectacular Velika Paklenica canyon to the Paklenica mountain hut (about 480 m), then climbs the steep Lipa trail with a narrow scree field before gaining the Velebit ridge. The ridge to the 1,757 m grassy summit is itself easy. Because of the large sea-level elevation gain, many hikers overnight at the hut and reach the summit the next day. Karst terrain can be slippery when wet; a Paklenica National Park ticket is required.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Accounts of climbing Vaganski vrh center on the 'sea-to-summit' journey: starting from the Adriatic coast at Starigrad-Paklenica, through the spectacular Velika Paklenica canyon, then a long climb to the highest grassy ridge of Velebit. Recurring themes: the big elevation gain from sea level makes it tiring, so many overnight at the Paklenica mountain hut; the Lipa trail is steep with a narrow scree field while the Bukova trail is gentler; karst terrain can be slippery when wet. Some hikers approach from the inland side (the Bunovac plateau), which cuts the elevation gain. The reward: a panorama of the Adriatic and its islands on one side, the Croatian interior on the other, and the rim above the vertical cliffs of Velika Paklenica.
