Description
Ushba (south summit about 4,710 m, north summit about 4,690 m) is one of the most iconic peaks of the Caucasus, rising in Georgia's Svaneti region just south of the border with Russia's Kabardino-Balkaria. Although it is not among the ten highest summits in the range, its soaring twin-tower silhouette has earned it the nickname "the Matterhorn of the Caucasus." Many climbers regard Ushba as the single hardest ascent in the entire Caucasus because of its steep walls, brittle rock, and fast-changing weather. Geologically the mountain is orogenic (non-volcanic), built of old crystalline rock. For ordinary mountain travellers, Ushba is most often enjoyed from a distance: popular trekking routes from the village of Mazeri and the town of Mestia toward the valleys and the Ushba Glacier give direct views of both summits without technical skills. Svaneti itself is famous for its medieval stone towers and the UNESCO-listed village of Ushguli, making the foothills of Ushba one of Georgia's most spectacular mountain landscapes.

Routes
Pendakian puncak Ushba (jalur alpine teknis via dataran tinggi Ushba)
Sangat teknis — panjat campuran es & batu, dianggap pendakian tersulit di KaukasusReaching Ushba's summit demands advanced alpine skills: crossing glaciers, negotiating steep walls and brittle rock, then climbing to one of the two summit towers via the Ushba Plateau. Objective hazards (rockfall, crevasses, storms) are high, so this line is for experienced roped teams with guides and full equipment only. Its reputation as the hardest climb in the Caucasus makes Ushba a prestigious objective for serious alpinists rather than ordinary hikers.
SourceTrek Gletser Ushba dari Mazeri / Mestia (pendekatan non-teknis)
Berat (non-teknis) — trek menanjak ke padang dan bibir Gletser UshbaThe most popular way to enjoy Ushba without climbing skills: a steep walk up from the village of Mazeri (near Mestia) through forest and alpine meadows to the moraine and edge of the Ushba Glacier. From this viewpoint both of Ushba's summit towers rise directly ahead. No technical gear is needed, but the terrain is steep, rocky and high, demanding good fitness and readiness for fast-changing Caucasus weather.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Ushba is experienced in two very different worlds: heavyweight technical alpine climbing on its twin summit towers, and Svaneti valley trekking that brings ordinary hikers to the foot of the mountain and the Ushba Glacier. Expedition films show how steep and brittle Ushba's walls are, while travel vlogs follow the trekking routes from Mazeri and Mestia toward waterfalls and the glacier beneath its two summit towers. The sources below document real ascents and treks in the Ushba area.
