Description
Triglav (2,864 m) is the highest peak in Slovenia and the highest point of the Julian Alps, standing at the heart of Triglav National Park. This three-headed mountain is so tied to national identity that its silhouette appears on Slovenia's flag and coat of arms, and a saying holds that every Slovene should climb it at least once in their lifetime. Though not among Europe's tallest, the ascent is no small feat: the route to the summit crosses steel-cabled via ferrata sections with high exposure, so a via ferrata set and helmet are strongly recommended. A typical climb takes two days with an overnight at a hut such as Triglavski dom na Kredarici (2,515 m), Slovenia's highest hut. Popular routes start from the Vrata valley (Tominšek route), the Pokljuka plateau, or the gentler Krma valley.

Climbing Experiences
Climbing Triglav (2,864 m) usually takes two days with an overnight at a hut such as Triglavski dom na Kredarici (2,515 m) or Dom Planika. The classic route starts from the Vrata valley (Tominšek route) along the dramatic north face, while the Krma valley and Pokljuka plateau offer gentler approaches. The crux is the steel-cabled via ferrata sections with high exposure near the summit — climbers recommend a via ferrata set, helmet, and a good head for heights. Most describe Triglav as a demanding but deeply rewarding climb, rich in national meaning for Slovenes.
