Description
Thabana Ntlenyana (about 3,482 m) is the highest peak in Lesotho and the highest point in all of Southern Africa, in the Maloti/Drakensberg range. Standard access is via Sani Pass / Sani Top (top of pass ~2,874 m); the inland trail to the summit is roughly 15 km one-way with ~850–1,000 m of cumulative gain. Reaching Sani Top by road needs a 4x4 up Sani Pass and a border crossing into Lesotho. Although non-technical, it is a remote, unmarked high-altitude hike: GPS navigation is needed, weather can turn severe fast, and carrying emergency shelter is strongly advised. A short boulder scramble leads to the true summit.

Routes
Drakensberg Grand Traverse (melintasi Thabana Ntlenyana)
Berat / ekspedisiThabana Ntlenyana is a key high point on the Drakensberg Grand Traverse, a multi-day high-altitude traverse along the Lesotho escarpment between major peaks. Fully self-supported, demanding navigation, alpine-style camping and resilience to rapidly changing high-altitude weather.
SourceSani Pass 3 hari berpemandu
SedangGuided multi-day version from the Sani Pass area: a short first day to a camp near a stream, a summit day of about 5 hours to Thabana Ntlenyana, then a return day. Sani Lodge also offers a 4-day variant. Suited to moderately fit hikers; includes a steep final section and a short boulder scramble to the true summit.
SourceSani Top → Thabana Ntlenyana (pulang-pergi)
Sedang–Berat (ketinggian, terbuka, tak bertanda)Standard route. From the top of Sani Pass (~2,874 m) at Sani Mountain Lodge, the trail heads inland across the Lesotho highlands ~15 km one-way to the 3,482 m summit, with ~850–1,000 m cumulative gain. A steep ridge crossing often feels harder than expected; navigation is by GPS over trackless moorland and weather can turn fast, so emergency shelter is advised.
