Description
Teide (3,715 m) is the highest point in Spain and the tallest peak in the entire Canary archipelago, rising as an active stratovolcano in the centre of Tenerife. Measured from the ocean floor its total height reaches roughly 7,500 m, ranking it among the tallest volcanoes on Earth. The mountain and its caldera form Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007 and one of the most visited national parks in Europe. Its last eruption was in 1909 from the El Chinyero vent. Most visitors ride the cable car from 2,356 m to the La Rambleta station (3,555 m), then tackle the short but steep Telesforo Bravo trail to the summit — which requires a special permit with a limited daily quota. Hikers wanting to ascend entirely on foot take the classic Montaña Blanca route and often overnight at the Altavista refuge to summit at dawn.

Routes
Montaña Blanca (PNT 7) + Refugio Altavista
Berat; ± 9 km, beda tinggi ~1.350 m, sebagian besar berjalan kaki penuhThe classic on-foot route from the Montaña Blanca car park (~2,350 m), climbing past pumice and lava fields to the Altavista refuge (3,260 m). Many hikers overnight there and summit at dawn via the connection to La Rambleta and the Telesforo Bravo trail. The long ascent and altitude make it suitable only for the fit.

Climbing Experiences
Climbing Teide (3,715 m) comes in two main styles: riding the cable car to La Rambleta (3,555 m) then taking the short-but-steep Telesforo Bravo trail to the summit (permit required), or walking up entirely via the classic Montaña Blanca route, overnighting at the Altavista refuge to summit before dawn. Many hikers start at night to catch sunrise and the famous triangular Teide shadow cast over a sea of clouds. Trip reports stress booking the summit permit well in advance, being ready for thin air and biting cold at altitude, and carrying warm layers, a headlamp, and enough water.
