Description

Tanete Patondokan is a summit in the mountainous interior of Central Mamuju Regency (Mamuju Tengah), West Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. In Bugis/Makassar, "tanete" means a mountain, hill, or ridge, while "patondokan" relates to "tondok" (settlement) in the Sa'dan/Toraja languages. The peak belongs to the Quarles Mountains (Pegunungan Quarles), the largest range on Sulawesi, spanning West and South Sulawesi, whose high point is Gunung Gandangdewata (3,037 m) in Mamasa; Tanete Patondokan sits in the range's northern reach. Its elevation is estimated at roughly 2,200–2,285 m: the GeoNames database (GNS model) records about 2,284 m with a topographic prominence of ~336 m above the surrounding terrain, while the Copernicus digital-elevation model (via Open-Meteo) reads about 2,203 m at its coordinates. Its surroundings are almost entirely forested, extremely remote, and very sparsely populated; the nearest higher summit is Buntu Tinangko (2,705 m) about 15.6 km to the east. The peak is verified as a named summit in the NGA-GNS database, OpenStreetMap, and Wikidata (Q25328114), but there is no dedicated Indonesian/English encyclopedia article about it, no verified climbing or expedition record, and no free-licensed photograph. Available climbing coverage in this range attaches to Gandangdewata, not Tanete Patondokan. The elevation figures are model estimates, not field surveys.
