Description

Tanete Lisu is a mountain in the highlands of West Sulawesi province, Indonesia, at roughly 2.110°S 119.543°E — about 1,500 km east of Jakarta. The word "tanete" in the Bugis-Makassar language means hill or mountain. According to digital-elevation-model (DEM) data compiled by the GeoNames/NGA-GNS geographic database, its summit stands about 1,180 m above sea level with a local prominence of about 139 m above the surrounding terrain, and a base width of about 0.95 km. The land is hilly to the west and becomes mountainous to the east; the nearest higher point, Tanete Tobarak (about 1,827 m), lies some 7.0 km to the east. The surroundings are almost entirely forest-covered and sparsely populated (about 14 people/km²). Its climate is cool and highland-typical: mean temperature about 19 °C (hottest September ~20 °C, coldest January ~15 °C) and high annual rainfall around 3,416 mm (wettest April ~497 mm, driest September ~103 mm). No hiking trail, tourism coverage, or specific local record could be found for this mountain; this profile is compiled from open geographic databases (Wikidata, GeoNames-derived Cebuano Wikipedia, and OpenStreetMap), and its data limitations are stated plainly.
