Description

Schilthorn is a 2,970 m summit in Switzerland’s Bernese Alps above Mürren and the Lauterbrunnen valley. Its summit complex, Piz Gloria, is known as a James Bond filming location and is accessible by cable car. For hikers, the approach from Mürren via Rotstockhütte is a long outing with a steep rocky climb; another option passes Birg. Views include the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Trip accounts should be read in their historical context: a newer report describes an exposed detour near the summit, so check trail conditions and closures before setting out.
