Description
Scafell Pike (978 m) is the highest and most prominent mountain in England, at the heart of the Lake District in Cumbria. Its summit is a broad boulder field forming part of the Scafell massif — the eroded remains of an ancient, now-extinct volcano. It is one of the three summits in the National Three Peaks challenge, alongside Ben Nevis in Scotland and Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon in Wales. The shortest ascent climbs from Wasdale Head via Brown Tongue and Lingmell Col, while walkers seeking more dramatic scenery choose the Corridor Route from Seathwaite in Borrowdale. Although it demands no technical skill in summer, the rocky terrain, rapidly changing weather and the easily disorienting summit boulder field in mist make careful navigation essential.

Routes
Corridor Route (dari Seathwaite, Borrowdale)
Sedang–berat; lebih panjang & bervariasi, sebagian eksposur ringan, pemandangan lebih dramatisThe route widely considered the most scenic to Scafell Pike, starting from Seathwaite in Borrowdale. It climbs via Stockley Bridge and Styhead Tarn, then follows the Corridor Route across rocky slopes with a few easy scrambling steps before joining Lingmell Col and the summit. Longer and more demanding than the Wasdale route, with more open views of the Lake District fells.
SourceWasdale Head (via Brown Tongue & Lingmell Col)
Sedang; jalur terpendek & terpopuler, berbatu dan curam tanpa keahlian teknis, ±900 m beda tinggiThe standard and shortest route to Scafell Pike's summit. From Wasdale Head, it climbs via Lingmell Beck and Brown Tongue to Hollow Stones, then to Lingmell Col before ascending the boulder field to the top (978 m). No technical skill is needed in summer, but it is rocky and tiring; in mist the summit boulder field demands careful map-and-compass navigation.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Climbing Scafell Pike (978 m), England's highest summit, is most commonly done via two routes. The shortest and most popular climbs from Wasdale Head through Brown Tongue to Lingmell Col and up to the summit boulder field — about 4–5 hours round trip with ~900 m of ascent. The route considered more scenic, the Corridor Route, starts from Seathwaite in Borrowdale via Styhead Tarn. Although it needs no technical skill in summer, many hikers stress that the rocky terrain, rapidly changing Lake District weather and the easily disorienting summit boulder field in mist make map-and-compass navigation essential. The mountain is also a classic leg of the National Three Peaks challenge.
