Description
San Jacinto Peak (3,302 m / 10,834 ft) is the highest point of the San Jacinto Mountains and Riverside County, California, rising dramatically more than 2,400 m above San Gorgonio Pass with a sheer north escarpment. Its summit sits within Mount San Jacinto State Park. Several ways reach the top: the easiest uses the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to Long Valley then the Round Valley–Wellman Divide trail (~18 km round trip); routes from the Idyllwild side (Devils Slide/Marion Mountain); and the extreme Cactus to Clouds via the Skyline Trail from the Palm Springs desert floor, gaining over 3,000 m and often called one of the hardest day hikes in the USA. San Jacinto is one of the most topographically prominent peaks in the contiguous US and an icon of Southern California hiking.

Routes
Cactus to Clouds (Skyline Trail dari Palm Springs)
Sangat berat (salah satu pendakian sehari terberat di AS)The legendary line climbing from the Palm Springs desert floor (~140 m) via the Skyline Trail. Gain to the summit exceeds 3,000 m—over 2,400 m just to reach the tramway/Long Valley ranger station, then on to the peak. No water for the first many kilometers, extreme desert heat below and cold air up high. Many hikers descend via the tramway. A history of SAR cases from dehydration and exhaustion makes it strictly for the very fit and prepared.
SourceVia Palm Springs Aerial Tramway (Round Valley → Wellman Divide → puncak)
Sedang (jalur jelas & bertanda; ketinggian >3.000 m)The easiest access to the summit. From the upper Palm Springs Aerial Tramway at Mountain Station (~2,596 m), hikers enter Long Valley (free wilderness permit required), follow the Round Valley Trail to Wellman Divide (~2,960 m), then the Peak Trail to the 3,302 m summit—about 18 km round trip. At altitude the weather changes fast; winter often brings snow/ice needing traction devices.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Experiences on San Jacinto Peak vary widely by route. Many hikers take the relaxed line via the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to Long Valley then Round Valley–Wellman Divide (~18 km round trip, free wilderness permit). The Idyllwild side (Marion Mountain/Devils Slide) offers a steeper forested climb. Cactus to Clouds via the Skyline Trail from the Palm Springs desert floor is the legend: over 3,000 m of gain in a day, no water for the first ~13 km, desert heat below and cold at the top—often called the hardest day hike in the USA.
