Description

Pulau Kahakitang is the largest island in the Tatoareng District cluster of the Sangihe Islands Regency, North Sulawesi, covering about 8.78 km² and serving as the district's administrative centre. It is home to roughly 2,000 people spread across four villages — Dalako, Bembanehe, Taleko, and Batusaiki — who live mainly from coconut, nutmeg, and clove cultivation and fishing (it is a notable skipjack-tuna producer for the area). Its terrain is hilly with coastal cliffs and small savannas, plus reef-fringed beaches such as Pantai Sowang and swiftlet nesting caves. Kahakitang sits within the Tatoareng waters that also host the Banua Wuhu submarine volcano, making the area a dive destination. The elevation of the island's high point is not documented in detail.
