Description

Prisojnik, or Prisank (2,547 m), is one of the most iconic peaks of the Julian Alps in Slovenia, within Triglav National Park. Its fame comes from two giant natural rock 'windows' piercing its face—the Prednje okno (Front Window) and the Zadnje okno—making it one of the country's most dramatic via ferrata objectives. The best-known route, the Kopiščarjeva pot, starts from the Vršič Pass and climbs straight through the large window, with exposed vertical sections and a narrow 'crack' as its crux before reaching the ridge. The summit gives sweeping views toward Triglav and the wider Julian range. Because its hardest section is technically tougher than the ordinary routes, the climb demands a full via ferrata set and a cool head for exposure.

Routes

Jalur normal (Slovenska smer) tanpa 'jendela'

Sedang (jalur gunung curam, sebagian dilindungi kabel)
±5–6 jam pulang-pergi

An easier way to the summit of Prisojnik (2,547 m) without going through the rock window, suited to those wanting to avoid the most technical ferrata section. It is still a steep alpine path with some cable-protected parts; from the window one can also continue to the summit via this normal route.

Menantang — via ferrata (sekitar C/D), tereksposisi
±5–7 jam pulang-pergi dari Vršič Pass

The most famous and dramatic route, starting from the Vršič Pass (~1,611 m). About half an hour reaches the ferrata start, then exposed vertical sections, a narrow 'crack' crux (sometimes climbed without the backpack), and finally a climb straight through the rock window onto the ridge. A via ferrata set and a cool head for exposure are essential.

Climbing Experiences

Prisojnik trip reports almost always center on its giant rock 'window' and the Kopiščarjeva pot via ferrata that climbs through it. The videos below—in English, Slovenian/Croatian and German—capture the exposed vertical sections, the narrow 'crack' crux, and the moment of stepping through the stone window onto the ridge. All underline the need for a via ferrata set and a head for exposure.
