Description
The Presolana (Pizzo della Presolana, 2,521 m) is a striking limestone massif in the Bergamasque Prealps (Orobie Alps), lying entirely in the province of Bergamo, Lombardy, between the Val Seriana and the Valle di Scalve. Nicknamed the 'Regina delle Orobie' (Queen of the Orobie), its walls have drawn leading Italian alpinists since the mid-19th century. Its highest point is the Presolana Occidentale; the normal route to it usually starts at the Passo della Presolana, passing the Rifugio Baita Cassinelli, the Bivacco Città di Clusone and a steep scree slope up to the Grotta dei Pagani before a rocky summit section where a helmet is required. The massif is also known for the Via Ferrata Passo della Porta and for its rich fossil and mineral deposits. With views over the Po Plain to the south and the Rhaetian Alps to the north, it is one of the most popular climbing destinations around Bergamo.

Routes
Via Ferrata Passo della Porta (Corrado Franceschi)
Ferrata — bervariasi namun tidak terlalu sulit, sangat bervariasiThe Via Ferrata Passo della Porta crosses part of the Presolana massif and is dedicated to the memory of Corrado Franceschi, who died on an excursion on the Presolana in 1967 (inaugurated 1970). The route is considered beautiful, never particularly difficult but very varied: well-assisted by ladders, pitons and safety chains, with traverses, overhangs and entertaining rock steps. A full ferrata set (helmet, harness, lanyard) and via ferrata experience are required; wet or icy conditions make it dangerous.

Berat (EEA/alpine) — ~12 km PP, dislivello ~1.250 m, wajib helmThe normal route to the Presolana Occidentale (highest summit, 2,521 m) usually starts at the Cantoniera/Passo della Presolana car park. A track reaches the Rifugio Baita Cassinelli in about 30 minutes, then follows signs to the Bivacco Città di Clusone and the Cappella Savina, before turning onto a broad scree slope (ghiaione) with a steep climb up to the Grotta dei Pagani and a rocky summit section. It is roughly 12 km return, about 1,250 m of ascent, and around 5 hours. A helmet is required up high—both ascending and descending—because of rockfall. A route for experienced hikers.
SourceClimbing Experiences
The Presolana (2,521 m), 'Queen of the Orobie', offers a via normale to the Presolana Occidentale (helmet required up high) and the popular Via Ferrata Passo della Porta. The Italian-language videos below capture the normal-route ascent past the Baita Cassinelli and Grotta dei Pagani, the Passo della Porta ferrata, and the summit panorama over the Bergamasque Orobie Alps.
