Description

Praděd (1,491 m) is the highest peak of the Hrubý Jeseník range and the highest point of the historical land of Moravia — as well as the fifth-highest mountain in the whole Czech Republic. Its summit is marked by a striking television transmitter tower nearly 150 m tall, with a viewing deck and café offering wide panoramas that on clear days reach the Krkonoše, Beskydy and even the Tatras. The area lies within the Jeseníky Protected Landscape Area (CHKO), with alpine meadows, national nature reserves and waterfalls. Hikers reach the top on marked trails from Ovčárna, Karlova Studánka, or the scenic Bílá Opava and Divoký důl valleys. Owing to its height and exposure, Praděd is famously windy and cold — often wrapped in fog and rime ice — making it one of the harshest micro-climates in the Czech Republic.

Routes

Bílá Opava / Karlova Studánka → Praděd (lembah air terjun)

Sedang; jalur lembah dengan jembatan kayu, tangga, dan tanjakan panjang
±5–6 jam pulang-pergi

A long, scenic route from the spa resort of Karlova Studánka up the Bílá Opava valley — past waterfalls, cascades, wooden bridges and stairways — before rising to the alpine meadows and Praděd summit. More demanding for its distance and height gain, but one of the finest trails in the Jeseníky.

Ovčárna → Praděd (jalur terpendek)

Mudah; jalur servis/aspal dan jalan setapak bertanda, tanjakan landai
±1,5–2 jam pulang-pergi

The most popular and shortest route. From the Ovčárna car park/lodges, a service road and marked path climb gently to the Praděd summit and its transmitter tower. Family-friendly in good weather, but the exposed top can be very windy and cold; carry warm layers year-round.
