Description
Pokalde (5,806 m) is one of the lowest and most accessible trekking peaks in Nepal's Everest region, rising on the southern side of the Kongma La in the Mahalangur Himal within Sagarmatha National Park. Sitting right on the popular Three Passes route and close to Chukhung and Lobuche, it is often used as a training or acclimatisation peak before higher objectives such as Island Peak or the Everest Base Camp trek. The climb pairs a long trekking approach with a more technical finish: some snow and ice and a short rocky scramble usually protected by a fixed rope near the narrow summit. The top offers close-up panoramas of Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, Ama Dablam and the Khumbu valley — a big reward for a peak that is comparatively friendly for climbers with basic snow experience.

Routes
Pendekatan via jalur Three Passes / Kongma La
Trekking (jalur pendekat) + puncak PDPokalde is most often climbed as a side-objective on the Everest Three Passes trek: the route passes Namche, Chukhung/Lobuche and crosses the Kongma La (5,535 m), with Pokalde's base camp just on the south side of the pass. This approach combines the gradual Khumbu acclimatisation with the chance to add a trekking peak before continuing to Everest Base Camp or other summits.

PD (Alpine mudah) — salju/es ringan dan satu ruas pemanjatan berbatu pendek diamankan tali menjelang puncakThe normal and most popular route up Pokalde. From the Chukhung/Lobuche area on the Three Passes trek, climbers reach a base camp near the Kongma La and then ascend the rocky north ridge. The final section narrows with some snow and ice and a short rocky scramble usually protected by a fixed rope to the narrow 5,806 m summit. It suits an acclimatisation or training peak before higher objectives such as Island Peak.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Climbers generally describe Pokalde as an easily reached trekking peak off the Three Passes/Kongma La route that still delivers real climbing on its final section: some snow and ice and a short rope-protected rocky pitch before the narrow summit. The clips below highlight the close summit views toward Nuptse–Lhotse–Makalu and its role as an acclimatisation/training peak in the Everest region.
