Description

Pointe Percée (2,750 m) is the highest point of the Aravis massif in the Haute-Savoie Prealps of France — a jagged limestone tower rising above Le Grand-Bornand and Sallanches. Its name, 'the pierced point', refers to a natural window in its rock. Despite its modest altitude, it is no trivial walk-up: the normal route from the Col des Annes passes the Refuge de Gramusset (2,164 m) and climbs the west face on exposed, unmarked rock scrambling — graded around PD and demanding care with loose rock and rockfall. The east side is breached by the Cheminées de Sallanches, a much more alpine and sustained series of rock chimneys. For its sweeping panorama toward Mont Blanc and its status as the 'roof of the Aravis', Pointe Percée is one of the most sought-after objectives for Haute-Savoie mountaineers — and also one of the more accident-prone, through slips and rockfall, so a helmet and rock-terrain experience are essential.

Routes

Cheminées de Sallanches (dinding timur)

Lebih menuntut (alpin) — rangkaian cerobong batu terpapar
Hari penuh; lebih panjang & alpin daripada voie normale

A more alpine alternative from the eastern (Sallanches) side. This route breaches the Cheminées de Sallanches — a series of rock chimneys that are longer, more exposed and more demanding than the voie normale, and often linked as a traverse with a descent by the west face. It suits climbers comfortable with committing alpine scrambling and rope management on steep ground; residual early-season snow or ice adds to the difficulty.

Route Segments

  1. 1

Sisi Sallanches → dasar Cheminées de Sallanches

    ⏱ 2–3 jam 2.300 mdpl

Pendekatan lebih panjang dari sisi timur menuju dasar cerobong

  2. 2

    Cheminées de Sallanches → puncak (2.750 m)

    ⏱ 2–3 jam 2.750 mdpl

Rangkaian cerobong batu terpapar; scramble alpin, sebagian butuh tali

Voie normale via Col des Annes & Refuge de Gramusset (dinding barat)

PD — scramble batu terpapar tak bertanda; helm wajib
5–7 jam pulang-pergi dari Col des Annes (1.725 m); beda tinggi ~1.025 m

The most common route to the highest point of the Aravis. From the Col des Annes above Le Grand-Bornand, the path to the Refuge de Gramusset (2,164 m) at the foot of the west face takes about 1.5–2 hours. From the refuge the climb turns into exposed rock scrambling up the west face to the summit — officially unmarked, graded around PD, and demanding care with loose rock and rockfall in the busy couloir. The summit panorama sweeps toward Mont Blanc. A helmet and rock-terrain experience are strongly advised.

Route Segments

  1. 1

    Col des Annes (1.725 m) → Refuge de Gramusset (2.164 m)

    ⏱ 1,5–2 jam 2.164 mdpl

Jalur mendaki menuju kaki dinding barat; masih berupa trek berjalan

  2. 2

Refuge de Gramusset → puncak (2.750 m) lewat dinding barat

    ⏱ 1,5–2 jam 2.750 mdpl

Scramble batu terpapar tak bertanda; waspada jatuhan batu, gunakan helm

Climbing Experiences

Pointe Percée is the most coveted 'roof of the Aravis' for Haute-Savoie mountaineers. The real accounts below span the voie normale from the Col des Annes, the more alpine Cheminées de Sallanches, and an Aravis ridge traverse — all confirming that, at only 2,750 m, it still demands exposed rock scrambling and vigilance against rockfall.
