Description
Piz Boè (3,152 m) is the highest point of the Sella group in the Italian Dolomites, a dolomite bastion rising where three regions meet: South Tyrol, Trentino and Belluno. What sets it apart is its access: from Passo Pordoi (2,239 m) a cable car lifts visitors to Sass Pordoi (~2,950 m), and then marked paths no. 627 and 638 lead over the Forcella Pordoi to the Rifugio Boè and up to the summit — making Piz Boè one of the most easily reached 3,000ers in the whole Dolomites. The summit itself hosts the Rifugio Capanna Fassa, and its 360-degree panorama sweeps across the Marmolada, the Sella and the Sassolungo. Yet the ease is not without challenge: the final stretch to the top is exposed and partly secured with steel cable, demanding sure footing and a cool head. For hard mountaineers, the Via Ferrata Cesare Piazzetta breaching the north side is reckoned among the toughest and longest ferratas in the Dolomites. Piz Boè is also a crowning stage on the Sellaronda circuit and the Alta Via 2.

Routes
Rute normal dari Sass Pordoi via Forcella Pordoi & Rifugio Boè (jalur 627/638)
Sedang — jalur tertanda dengan bagian terpapar & sebagian bertali bajaThe most popular route and the reason Piz Boè is called the easiest 3,000er in the Dolomites. From Passo Pordoi (2,239 m) a cable car lifts climbers to Sass Pordoi (~2,950 m). From there the path descends to the Forcella Pordoi, then trail no. 627 (partly following the Alta Via 2) leads to the Rifugio Boè, where trail no. 638 branches up to the summit (3,152 m), home to the Rifugio Capanna Fassa. The hardest sections near the top are secured with steel cable, putting it within reach of many hikers, but exposure, loose rock and afternoon thunderstorms still demand care.

Jalur 638 menanjak; bagian terpapar sebagian diamankan tali baja
Via Ferrata Cesare Piazzetta (sisi utara)
Sangat berat (ferrata ekstrem) — vertikal, atletis, dan terpaparA route for experienced via ferrata climbers. The Via Ferrata Cesare Piazzetta breaches the north side of Piz Boè and is widely reckoned among the longest and toughest ferratas in the Dolomites — demanding strong fitness, sound technique and a steady head for its vertical, highly exposed sections. Full ferrata gear (ferrata set, helmet, harness) and careful weather judgement are essential; afternoon thunderstorms are very dangerous on this open face. It is not a beginner's route.
Route Segments
- 1
Pendekatan → dasar Via Ferrata Cesare Piazzetta
Pendekatan ke dasar dinding utara; pasang perlengkapan ferrata
- 2
Via Ferrata Cesare Piazzetta → puncak (3.152 m)
Bagian vertikal, atletis & sangat terpapar; hanya untuk pendaki ferrata berpengalaman
Climbing Experiences
Piz Boè shows two starkly contrasting faces: the easiest 3,000er in the Dolomites via the Sass Pordoi cable car and marked paths, or one of the toughest via ferratas in the Dolomites via the Via Ferrata Cesare Piazzetta. The real accounts below cover both — from a relaxed hike off Sass Pordoi to a grueling struggle up the Piazzetta.
