- Best Season

Description
Pidurutalagala (2,524 m), formerly called Mount Pedro in English, is the highest mountain in Sri Lanka; its Sinhala name means roughly 'straw plateau rock'. It sits north-north-east of the town of Nuwara Eliya and is easily visible from most of the Central Province. Unlike technical climbing peaks, the highest point is reached by a paved road, yet the summit hosts the central communications array of the Government of Sri Lanka and its armed forces and is an important part of the country's radar system. As a result the peak is designated an 'ultra-high security zone' protected by a military base, with access controlled through a checkpoint; it was historically off-limits to the public, though recent visitor footage shows tourists can now reach the top with permission. The surrounding area is damp, frequently misty cloud forest; on 1 March 2010 a small wildfire burned about 1.2 hectares of forest cover before being put out. From the summit, views stretch over the tea hills of Nuwara Eliya and the central highlands.

Routes
Jalan aspal dari Nuwara Eliya lewat pos pemeriksaan militer
Ringan medan, tetapi akses terkontrol: puncak berada di zona keamanan sangat tinggiSri Lanka's highest point is reached not by a technical trail but by a paved road climbing from Nuwara Eliya. Because the summit hosts the central government-and-military communications array and plays a role in the national radar system, the area is an ultra-high security zone with access controlled at a military checkpoint. Historically off-limits to the public; recent visitor footage shows tourists can now go up with registration/permission at the checkpoint. Visitors must follow officers' rules and photography restrictions at certain installations.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Unlike technical climbing peaks, reaching Sri Lanka's highest point is more about access than ascent: the paved road from Nuwara Eliya to the summit passes a military checkpoint, since the area is an ultra-high security zone with communications and radar installations. Much recent visitor footage confirms tourists can now go up with registration/permission at the checkpoint — some clips are titled literally 'now everyone can go to Pidurutalagala'. The videos show damp, misty cloud forest, drives through fog, and panoramas of tea hills from the top. All links below are verified live via YouTube oEmbed.
