Description
Pico Posets (3,369 m) — also known as Punta de Llardana — is the second-highest summit in the entire Pyrenees after Aneto. This granite mountain rises at the heart of the Macizo de Posets in the province of Huesca (Aragón, Spain), inside the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park, above the villages of Eriste, Benasque and San Juan de Plan. Its classic route starts from the Refugio Ángel Orús (±2,100 m) and climbs through the Canal Fonda, a narrow couloir that stays snow-covered almost year-round, so an ice axe and crampons are often needed even though the route is technically a hard hike rather than a true alpine climb. The final section to the top follows a rocky ridge with easy scrambling before reaching the summit's geodetic marker. From the top a broad panorama opens over Aneto, the Maladeta and the chain of Pyrenean three-thousanders. The first recorded ascent was in 1856 by the British climber Halkett with local guides. Its long approach, big elevation gain and permanent couloir snow mean Posets is often considered more demanding than the higher Aneto.

Routes
Vía Normal via Refugio Ángel Orús & Canal Fonda
Berat; non-teknis namun panjang, salju keras di Canal Fonda (sering butuh kapak es & crampon), scrambling ringan di punggungan puncakThe normal route to Pico Posets starts from the Refugio Ángel Orús (±2,100 m), reached by a ±2–3 hour walk from the Espigantosa/Eriste car park. From the refuge the path climbs northwest along a valley toward the Canal Fonda — a narrow couloir that stays hard-snow-covered almost year-round, so an ice axe and crampons are commonly needed even though the route is a hard hike rather than a true alpine climb. Above the couloir the route joins a rocky ridge with easy scrambling past the Diente de Llardana area to the 3,369 m summit's geodetic marker. The upper section is not always clearly marked, so good navigation and sure footing on snow and talus are important. Start very early to avoid the typical Pyrenean afternoon thunderstorms, and check the Canal Fonda snow conditions before committing.

Climbing Experiences
Climbing Pico Posets is a Pyrenean three-thousander experience that demands fitness and comfort on hard snow. Almost everyone first sleeps at the Refugio Ángel Orús (±2,100 m), then sets off before dawn up the Canal Fonda — a narrow couloir that is nearly always snow-covered, so an ice axe and crampons are often mandatory even though it is technically a hard hike rather than a true alpine climb. Above the couloir the route continues along a rocky ridge with easy scrambling to the 3,369 m summit marker. The round trip is typically 8–10 hours with over 1,200 m of ascent, so an early start is strongly advised to avoid afternoon thunderstorms. Many hikers find Posets more demanding than the higher Aneto because of the permanent Canal Fonda snow and its more remote terrain.
