Description
Pic la Selle (also called Morne La Selle; ≈2,680 m, with sources citing roughly 2,674 m) is the highest point in Haiti and of the entire southern peninsula of Hispaniola. It belongs to the Chaîne de la Selle (Massif de la Selle) southeast of Port-au-Prince, extending toward the Dominican Republic border. Its slopes carry pine forest and host the rare black-capped petrel. According to Wikipedia there are no formal mapped trails on the mountain, so an ascent relies on self-navigation and local knowledge; many start from the Seguin area near La Visite National Park. Because of its remoteness, road access is difficult, and climbers should carry supplies and warm clothing and check current security conditions in Haiti.
