Description

Petukangan — known locally as Gunung Petukangan or Bukit Petukangan — is a low hill on the western edge of the city of Gresik, East Java, Indonesia. The GeoNames gazetteer (ID 1903216) records it as a 'hill' about 36 m high at roughly 7.175° S, 112.639° E, and its point is recorded in OpenStreetMap from GNS/NGA data (classification code HLL). Administratively it sits near Kelurahan Tlogopatut, Kecamatan Gresik. Rather than standing out as a hiking objective, the name Gunung Petukangan is best known through the founding story of Giri Kedaton: in the tradition of Sunan Giri (Raden Paku), a light is said to have fallen between Gunung Petukangan and Sumber, marking where the Giri Kedaton complex would be established in the Gresik hills. No trail records, trip reports, or rock-composition data specific to this hill were found in verifiable open sources; available data is limited to its name, classification, ~36 m elevation, administrative location, and its cultural significance tied to the Sunan Giri legend.
