Description

Pedraforca (2,506 m) is one of Catalonia's most iconic peaks and is often regarded as a symbol of the region's mountaineering. Its name means "stone fork": the distinctive profile is formed by two twin summits — Pollegó Superior (2,506 m) and Pollegó Inferior (2,445 m) — split by a deep notch called L'Enforcadura, giving the massif the silhouette of a giant fork. It rises in the Berguedà comarca near the villages of Saldes and Gósol, on the edge of the Cadí-Moixeró natural area. The classic ascent climbs from the Mirador de Gresolet past the Refugi Lluís Estasen, skirts the base of the north face, then gains the Collada del Verdet before scrambling up the Verdet gully at up to grade II — several key passages are fitted with chains and fixed ropes. It totals about 1,000 m of ascent and usually takes 5–8 hours. Pedraforca's soaring north wall is also a celebrated classic rock-climbing arena.

Rute klasik ke puncak Pedraforca. Dari Mirador de Gresolet naik ke Refugi Lluís Estasen, lalu mengitari dasar dinding utara dan menanjak ke Collada del Verdet (umumnya ±2 jam). Dari collada, jalur menyusuri kanal Verdet dengan scrambling hingga grade II — beberapa bagian kunci dilengkapi tali dan rantai tetap — melewati North summit sebelum mencapai Pollegó Superior (2.506 m). Total naik sekitar 1.000 m. Jalur ditandai (PR C-123 hingga coll, lalu tanda kuning). Helm disarankan karena batu jatuh di jalur ramai.

Climbing Experiences

Experiences on Pedraforca almost always centre on the climb to the Pollegó Superior via the Collada del Verdet — a rocky gully with scrambling and fixed chains — or the approach routes from Gósol and the Mirador de Gresolet.
