Description

Pasir Sereh is a hill in Pamekarsari village, Surian district, Sumedang Regency, West Java, Indonesia. In Sundanese, "pasir" means a hill or high mound (not sand), while "sereh" means lemongrass — so the name roughly means "lemongrass hill," a very common West Java naming pattern. Its summit lies at roughly 420–445 m above sea level: the Copernicus digital-elevation model (via Open-Meteo) reads about 424 m, while the GeoNames database (SRTM-derived) records about 443 m, some 38 m above the surrounding terrain. The hill belongs to a dense cluster of nearby "pasir" toponyms (Pasir Patapaan, Pasir Laja, Pasir Salam, Pasir Leungis, all within about 1.5 km) — a typical Sundanese micro-toponym landscape. Pasir Sereh is recorded as a named peak in the NGA-GNS database, OpenStreetMap, and Wikidata (Q25160899), but there is no documented official trail, ground-surveyed elevation, or verified climbing account. Note that several other hills named "Pasir Sereh" exist in West Java at different coordinates; this entry refers specifically to the Sumedang hill (Q25160899). All sources trace back to the NGA-GNS/GeoNames geospatial database and so are not independent corroboration; data is limited to its location and administrative context.
