Description

Parchamo (Pachermo) is a non-volcanic peak in Nepal’s Rolwaling Himal near Tashi Lapcha, the pass linking Rolwaling and Khumbu. This profile follows Wikidata’s elevation of 6,273 m; operators also use 6,187 m, so the source discrepancy remains explicit. The Rolwaling traverse approaches through Tsho Rolpa and glaciers to a camp near the pass before climbing the snowy summit ridge. Another approach starts in Lukla and passes through Namche, Thame, Thengpo and Ngole, returning to Khumbu without traversing the whole Rolwaling valley. Denzil Broadhurst’s account in the 1994 British expedition report describes loose moraine, wind and crevasses that stopped his group a few tens of metres short of the highest point. This is historical context rather than a current conditions report; the trekking-peak label does not remove the need for glacier skills and condition assessment.

The team moves to high camp near Tashi Lapcha, climbs snow slopes and the ridge, then returns to base camp. The programme includes a contingency day before retracing the approach through Thame and Namche to Lukla. This is an eastern approach alternative, not a claimed new summit route; the operator page contains inconsistent summit elevations.

Adventure Alternative’s programme approaches from Rolwaling through Tsho Rolpa and Dhagarding, then ascends the Drolambau glacier to Tashi Lapcha. High camp lies beyond the pass below Tengi Ragi Tau. The climbing day crosses the glacier and follows the ridge toward the summit, returning to camp before descending through Thengpo and Thame. The duration covers the full operator programme, including Ramdung, rather than Parchamo alone.

Parchamo can be approached through Rolwaling or from Khumbu. Denzil Broadhurst’s historical account describes approaching from Thame, bivouacking near the pass and stopping short of the highest point because of crevasses; it does not establish present route conditions.
